This is how you stop autoplay of videos on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram

Facebook will soon be making some changes to the way you watch videos. For example, the sound starts playing automatically. Do you find that as annoying as we do? Here's how to disable autoplay for Facebook, but also Twitter and a little bit for Instagram.

Videos on Facebook play automatically, but luckily it won't be very difficult for you to turn the option off. On the Facebook website, click on the arrow in the top right and go to Institutions. Click at the bottom of the menu Videos, open the drop-down menu at Autoplay videos and select from. Your settings are saved automatically. Also read: How to delete your social media accounts.

On your Android smartphone, open the Facebook app, press the hamburger menu and scroll down to App Settings. Then click Autoplay and tick the box Never autoplay videos.

In iOS, go to via the hamburger menu Institutions and click Account Settings. Go under the heading Videos and photos nasty Autoplay. Now you can tick the boxNever autoplay videosto make.

Twitter

Twitter also has an autoplay function built in, but that too is easy to turn off. In your browser, go to twitter.com, click on your profile picture in the top right and go to Institutions. You will immediately come to the right tab (Account) justly. Put under the heading Content / Video Tweets the checkmark Autoplay videos from.

In the Twitter app on Android, click on your profile picture in the top left and also go to Institutions. Under the heading General / Data do you find the option Autoplay videos. Click on it and put the ball on Do not autoplay videos in timelines.

In iOS you go to your own profile page and press the icon of a cog next to your profile picture. Click on the menu that comes up Institutions. Tap the option Video autoplay and select the option Do not autoplay videos.

Instagram

Instagram also plays videos automatically, but unlike other social media, the feature cannot be turned off. However, Instagram does have another option for when you're about to run out of data: the data-saving mode.

To save data on Instagram for Android, open the app and click on your profile picture at the bottom right. Tap the three vertical dots at the top right to open the settings menu. Scroll down and after under the heading Institutions nasty Mobile data usage. Put a check in Use less data to turn on the saving mode.

In iOS you go in your account via the icon of the cog to Institutions. Under the heading Mobile data usage you will also find the option here Use less data.
