The Zoner Photo Studio program is available in three versions. Because in addition to the free version that we discuss here, there are also the Home and Professional variants that require payment. Free is less extensive than the paid versions, but still has plenty of options.
The program's layout and color scheme are very reminiscent of Photo-shop Elements and Lightroom, with tabs on the right that take you to a particular section. The program has nice extras. In this way you can not only take panoramic photos, but also compose a real 3D photo (anaglyph) from two separate images. In the management module you can immediately see which metadata is contained via small symbols on the thumbnails. For example GPS data or labels (keywords), but also a classification (a rating of one to five stars) and color label. A big plus is that both labels and classification are compatible with the Adobe products, so that a one-time assignment is enough. Unfortunately, this does not apply to the color labels. For photos with GPS data, the location can be viewed on a map. The built-in photo editor is mainly intended for basic editing and effects.
The thumbnails immediately show which metadata is present.
Conclusion
This free version is primarily an extensive viewing and management program, with which a number of standard operations are also possible. Striking is the rare possibility to take 3D photos. For avid photo enthusiasts, Zoner Photo Studio Free is primarily a first introduction to the package, they benefit greatly from the professional version. If only because of the raw converter, HDR capabilities, photo comparison, color management and dual monitor support.
