DreamMail 4.6.9.0

An email program like DreamMail can come in handy. For example, if you have just switched to Windows 7 and find that Microsoft no longer includes an e-mail program. Webmail is a possible way out, but for those who stick to a 'classic' e-mail program, DreamMail is a useful alternative.

During the installation you can decide which components you want, but unless you are not interested in plug-ins (such as SSL support for Gmail) or extras (emoticons, templates and stationery) it is best to leave all items marked. DreamMail is of Chinese origin, but luckily the interface also turns out to be Dutch. The program supports multiple users. This means that you can create a protected DreamMail account for each user, so that you don't stumble over each other's messages.

Smart folders with combinable criteria.

order

The interface can be called classic, with a typical three-way split: on the left the panel in which you open the desired e-mail folder or account, at the top right the contents of the mail folder and at the bottom right a preview of the message. Messages can be sorted by different criteria, but it has to be kept tidy and so the program also provides an extensive filter set and handy 'smart folders'. You determine the criteria yourself and DreamMail automatically ensures that only the correct messages end up in such a folder. For those who work less rigidly: there is a flexible search function that allows you to quickly locate the messages you are looking for. We are less pleased with the merits of the spam button: it actually only functions as 'add this sender to the blacklist'.

Messages

By default you send e-mails in HTML format and here you will find a few nice extras. We are not talking so much about the (rich collection of) emoticons, the beautiful stationery (about 85, neatly divided thematically) but about the possibility to quickly add a table, a screen image or recorded text (in wav format). to add. There are also ready-made templates and of course you can add signatures and - quite handy - with the help of macros you also insert variables such as [%Date] or [%Name_Recipient]. And for those who make the switch: DreamMail allows you to import messages from Outlook Express and Foxmail.

Signatures and templates including useful variables.

more than email

DreamMail may be a thoroughbred e-mail client, but that does not alter the fact that there is also a basic contact manager on board, including vCard support and with various import options, including for contacts from Outlook (Express). And, less evident: a simple RSS reader has also found its place in DreamMail. Finally, it is worth mentioning that DreamMail also exists in a 'portable' version: just throw it on the stick and you have it in your pocket.
