After a two-month Dutch trial with free Disney+, the streaming service has finally been officially launched worldwide. You can watch Disney+ on TV, through various apps. But of course you can also watch Disney+ on your smartphone, tablet or in the browser of your PC. These are your options for watching Disney+ on all your devices.
There are several roads to Rome, which are very easy or a little more complicated depending on your television. If you want to use Disney+, it is wise to first download the app (Android and iOS) on your phone or open the site on your PC. It is necessary to create an account for Disney + and it is often a bit complicated to tap on the television.
To register
Once you open it, you can sign up for the service. To do this, you share your email address with Disney, enter a password and then proceed to payment. You don't pay anything initially, but on November 11 your free subscription will be converted to a paid subscription for 6.99 euros per month. You pay it like other apps in the App Store or Google Play. If you sign up via the Disney+ site you can pay with credit card, iDeal or Paypal.
Now that you have an account, see which situation applies to you to use it on your television.
You have a smart TV
If you have a smart TV, there are two ways to watch Disney+. You will be able to download Disney+ as a separate application in the application store of your smart TV itself. After downloading, all you need to do is log in with your email address and password and you can start watching. You can navigate through menus with the arrow keys on your remote control. In addition, your television is smart, so you can also switch on Disney+ by using your smartphone, which can be done via Airplay (Apple) or Chromecast (Android and iOS). See the description at point 3. You can stream the image from your iPhone to your TV via Airplay. Newer smart TVs now have an Airplay application, so in some cases you no longer need an Apple TV.
Disney+ available on Samsung TVs
From November 6, the Disney+ app can be downloaded on Samsung smart TVs. The app is available via the Samsung Smart Hub. You can install the application on all smart televisions from 2017, 2018 and 2019. The Smart Hub from Samsung is the platform where you can, among other things, browse the internet and watch television via various apps.
You don't have a smart TV, but you do have a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One
Smart TVs have an application store, but the same applies to consoles PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, which already offer the app during this 'test period'. The disadvantage compared to a smart TV is that you have to have your console and your television on to watch, but without a smart TV it is very convenient to use the console to watch movies and series from Star Wars, among others. , Marvel and Pixar. You use the controller to navigate through the menus.
No smart TV or game console?
If you don't have a smart TV or a game console, you don't necessarily have to watch Disney classics such as Beauty & the Beast and Aladdin on your phone. You can use a Chromecast. This is a round device that can be purchased from 39 euros and with which you can stream media via WiFi. If you have an HDMI port in your television, you can connect the Chromecast to it. You can then select the 'chromecast' icon via the app in the phone before switching on the film or series. Make sure your phone is on the same WiFi channel.
As a last option, you also have the option of connecting your PC or laptop to the television via an HDMI cable. This basically uses your TV as an extra monitor for your Windows 10 device.
