If you want to buy a computer these days, it is almost self-evident a laptop. You are not there yet with that choice, laptops are available in all kinds of shapes. In this article we show you what is for sale, so that you can determine for yourself what kind of laptop you need.
If you are looking for a computer for your home, you will soon find a laptop. For many years now, more laptops than desktops have been sold. Not for nothing, because a laptop offers many advantages compared to a desktop. A laptop takes up little space and can be used anywhere in the house. Of course you can also take it with you and use it on the go. Although desktop processors are still a lot faster, you can also perform almost all tasks with a notebook processor. The extra power that a desktop PC offers in terms of processor, you really only need for specific applications such as gaming or video editing. Incidentally, there are also less efficient notebook processors that contain four cores, just like a desktop processor. You will logically find these in gaming notebooks and desktop replacements.
One laptop is of course not the other. We will tell you in this article what to look for when choosing a notebook. We have listed a number of notebook categories that we think are the most interesting for most users. Once you've found a laptop that you like, we would always recommend that you try it out if possible, paying particular attention to the keyboard and touchpad.
Screen size of your new laptop
It seems obvious, but the choice for a laptop starts with the screen size. The size of the screen largely determines the size of the device. The more often you take the laptop with you, the more important the size becomes. For example, a 17-inch laptop is far too large for most users to carry. Such devices mainly serve as desktop replacements for users who want the convenience of an easily portable PC at home. You will not easily use a 17-inch notebook on your lap. The most popular size is still the 15.4 inch laptop. If you want to take your laptop with you regularly or use it at home on the couch, we would really take a size smaller.
A 13.3-inch or 14-inch screen is a good compromise between portability and a size large enough to see everything clearly. If you go smaller than 13.3 inches, then your focus must be very much on portability. It is still possible to work on a 12-inch screen, we would not recommend a smaller screen for a device that serves as the primary computer. Of course you can connect a normal screen to your laptop for home.
