For the cyclist who is looking for a cycling computer with only the basics, there is plenty to be found. Speed, movement time and distance is more than sufficient for many cyclists. This is exactly what the Sigma Pure 1 ATS offers.

  • Pros
  • Clear to read
  • sleek design
  • Negatives
  • Does not have a time display
  • Does not show average speed

The Pure 1 looks great, a beautiful design with clean lines. Because the screen extends almost to the edge, the screen is large enough to be able to read everything properly. Once further unpacked I come across the materials for assembly and an instruction sheet.

wireless

A huge plus of the Pure 1 ATS is that it is a wireless clock. The installation is therefore not complicated. My advice: do it yourself. I didn't learn much from the supplied instruction sheet. But of course that could also be me.

Place the speed sensor with the elastic around your front fork. Make sure that the receiver that you place on the spokes moves tightly against the sensor. In the first kilometers I lost contact with my sensor a number of times because the distance turned out to be too great. I think the sensor is fairly loose on the front fork, but you could easily solve this by using tie wraps.

Just set it up and drive

The Pure 1 ATS has two buttons: the 'set' button on the back and the control button on the front. Because the Pure 1 is not very extensive, the settings are fairly simple. Once you've found the right tire size and indicated whether you want to be measured in km/h or mp/h, you're good to go. The Pure gives nothing more than necessary. Speed, movement time and distance. On a second screen, operated with the button on the front, you can also find the total movement time and the total distance. I do miss the average speed here, something I really need when I'm on the bike. But that's personal: maybe the average speed isn't that important to you.

For the cyclist who doesn't care about average speed, Strava times, heart rate zones and cadence, the Pure displays everything clearly. I tested the Pure together with the Wahoo ELEMNT Bolt. Not to compare them with each other, but to see if the indicated speed corresponds. The Bolt is GPS controlled; both speeds seem to match well.

Conclusion

The Sigma Pure 1 is an excellent device for cyclists who are satisfied with the basic information. It is a pity that you do not get any information about your average speed in addition to this basis. If you don't need all kinds of extras, the Sigma Pure 1 is a good choice. Moreover, this wireless version also looks cool.
