There are tons of (free) video converters on the market, and most of them have nearly identical features. While video conversion was complex and time-consuming a few years ago, these types of programs support almost all popular file types and convert from avi to the desired format in no time at all. The makers of Freemake Video Converter think they can add something to that.
The first thing you notice when you start the program is the overly beautiful interface. It all looks very attractive, but most importantly, very simple. The top buttons determine which files to import, while the bottom buttons determine what you want to convert to. The choice is also extensive: you can not only add video and audio files and, for example, DVDs, but it is also possible to enter a URL for such a file or to add photos. The latter is particularly interesting, because you can easily create slideshows and upload them directly to YouTube, for example, which is fantastic. You can also edit those slideshows and put music under them, etc., but this is neither explained nor announced due to the simple interface. That's a shame, because it's easy to overlook this feature.
The interface of the program looks nice and works wonderfully logically.
Features in simplicity
The number of options may seem limited at first glance, in reality this is simply a matter of clever interface design. You can export to (for example) avi, mkv, Apple, Android, YouTube, Sony, Flash and many more. Apple is of course not a format, but if you click on this button, you can choose which Apple device you want to optimize the video for (which also contains a button for even more manually set options). It all looks very nice and the options are in a logical place, so that converting a video feels almost as simple as turning on a light switch. For example, there is also the possibility to combine video files with each other, simply by checking it. The conversion itself is very fast and with the quality you can expect. By entering your account information from YouTube and Facebook by default, the program can also be used as a video uploader at the same time. There are no perfect programs, but Freemake Video Converter is right, you can feel it in everything. An absolute must.
You can quickly and easily choose what to convert to, without losing the ability to set options yourself.
