Most home users have either a laser or an inkjet printer. Or both. In the latter case, it is practical to set the laser printer as the default printer in Windows. For daily printing tasks, you can then print cheaply via the laser printer. In most cases it will be a black and white print, but that is generally no problem. If you need to print something in color, you can always choose the inkjet in the print window. To set the laser printer as the default in Windows 10, click the settings gear in the Start menu. In Settings, click Devices and then - left - on Printers and scanners. Click on the printer you want to set as default and then on the appeared button To manage. click on Set as Default and you're done. In every program where you give a print order from now on, this printer will be selected from now on. To save a lot of paper, you could even set Microsoft Print to PDF as the default printer.

Many printers have a setting that ensures economical printing. In other words: less ink or toner is used than with a normal print. The quality differences are usually not very interesting for everyday print jobs that don't leave the house. With inkjet printers, it often also applies that printing in draft mode is many times faster than normal. You can go through the quality settings for each print job. It is much more convenient to set the economic and (or) fast mode as the default. Only if you are going to print a letter, paper, report or photo, do you dive into the settings to adjust a few things. In all other cases, a click on Print simply produces a fast and (or) economical print.
To set the print quality 'globally' in Windows, you use the app again Institutions. Click here again Devices and then Printers and scanners. Click on the printer whose print quality you want to adjust, followed by a click on To manage. click on Printing Preferences and then on the tab Paper/Quality. There, select one of the available options, for example Concept. Sometimes several options are available, please also look under the button Advanced. The options depend on your printer and installed drivers. click on OK once the settings have been made; from now on, these will be used in combination with this printer with every printout from any Windows program that can print.
