Steam will support PS4 controller

Are you a PC gamer playing through Steam and also own a PlayStation 4? Then you will soon also be able to use the PS4 controller within Steam. A presentation given at the SteamDevDays shows that Steam will soon receive support for Sony's DualShock 4 controller.

Valve, the owner of Steam, sells the Steam Controller itself. Thanks to many buttons and touch-sensitive surfaces, this controller can be configured in such a way that games that require a mouse and keyboard are still playable. Not everyone likes the Steam Controller. Many PC gamers therefore use an Xbox controller from Microsoft, but it has fewer options than Valve's own controller. Soon, however, after an update for Steam, Steam gamers will also be able to get started with the DualShock 4 controller for the PlayStation 4. This is apparent from a presentation given at the SteamDevDays. Also read: Stream PS4 games on your PC or Mac in 3 steps

Extended configuration

According to Valve, Sony's PS4 controller has enough options to configure it almost identically to Valve's own controller. For example, the DualShock 4 is equipped with a touchpad. Once the update has been rolled out, you will be able to configure the DualShock 4 to your liking via the Steam software. For example, you can use the touchpad as a mouse replacement. The built-in gyroscope is also available in Steam. In addition to support for the PS4 controller, it is planned that Steam will support even more controllers.
