This is how you set up a split screen on your Android

Sometimes you want to do more than two things on your phone at the same time, so it's useful to know that Android devices have a split-screen mode, which allows you to use two apps at the same time. The split screen is a handy option for getting the most out of your Android phone, but it can be a bit tricky to enable if you haven't done so before. A short explanation.

First of all, it's good to realize that not all apps support multitasking, including Netflix, the camera app and certain games like Candy Crush. Because all manufacturers use a different Android skin, the operation may differ per smartphone brand.

Which apps support split screen?

To find out which apps you can use in split screen mode, tap the multitasking icon in the bottom left corner of the screen. You will then see an overview of your recently opened apps. Next to the title of the application at the top, you will find two rectangles below each other, or the split screen icon. This means that the respective application supports the split screen mode. If the two rectangles cannot be found, it is not possible to multitask with this app.

Set up split screen

Once you've found an app that allows you to multitask, swipe to this app, tap and hold the split screen icon at the top. Then choose the second app in the same way.

You will then see the two apps above or below each other. If you want one screen to be larger than the other, you can move the bar in the middle.

Still turn it off?

If you do not like the split-screen mode or if you want to switch it off again, you can do that very easily by dragging the black bar in the middle of the two apps up or down. The app you want to keep will then remain on your screen. You can also press the home button to minimize the apps. Then swipe to the notification screen to close the multitask screen.
