Sail Amsterdam 2015 started today, and hundreds of ships are currently sailing the metropolitan waterways. Via Ship Finder you can follow ships sailing in the parade in real time.
Ship Finder is a similar website to Plane Finder, a well-known platform that shows flight information and routes. Shipfinder works the same way. Go to the shipfinder.co website and zoom in on Amsterdam (or, if you're looking for another ship, anywhere else on the map). Click on a ship to view the details.
Needle in a haystack
You get to see a lot of information, such as the name, the type of ship, the precise location and the flag under which the ship sails. You will see pictures of well-known ships. You can share the ship by clicking on the chain, or follow the course by clicking on the icon of a boat. The further you zoom in, the more ships you can distinguish. Unfortunately, the website doesn't have a search function, so if you want to find a specific ship, it's a bit of searching for a needle in a haystack.
Note: If you visit the website via a mobile browser, you will be redirected to the app, which unfortunately costs about four euros.
