The dedication and effort of gardeners makes many a garden bloom. Keeping a garden or growing vegetables is not for everyone, but with these five apps that we have selected for you, you too can become an experienced gardener. It's time to get green hands.
MyGardenApp
In MijnTuinApp you get an overview of a very large number of plants in Dutch gardens and how many gardens this plant occurs in. This data is based on the number of affiliated members My Garden has. In order to make optimal use of the My Garden app, you must first create an account. You can then post if you want to give tips to other gardeners, but you can also read experiences of others to learn from them yourself. Keeping up with your garden takes time and since not everything blooms at once, proper planning can help. You can then use the built-in calendar, so that you know when to water or fertilize which plants.
MijnTuinApp has a plant database, but also lets you learn from others and share experiences.
Beginner Gardening Guide
Beginners Gardening Guide is a handy app - handbook - for novice gardeners. In the app you get guides on how to best grow certain plants and vegetables, as well as how to fertilize all seeds. The handbook gives a lot of tips, where you have to think about which type of gardens are the best to start with for inexperienced gardeners and how to ensure that the soil on which everything has to grow meets all requirements. The only downside of the app is that everything is in English. If that's not a problem, Beginners Gardening Guide offers a lot of useful info.
You will receive tips to get started as a gardener.
Vegetable Gardening!
Vegetable Gardening! is an app that focuses on growing and growing fruits and vegetables. With the app you have access to E-books about vegetables and aquatic plants, you can listen to podcasts from gardeners and diet tips are available. Everything you can think of related to fruits and vegetables, such as following diets, what drinks you can make with them and how to plant and grow them, are included in the app. Also in this app everything is in English, but if your lifestyle fits what the app offers then it is more than helpful.
You can also read reports from other gardeners.
Pl@ntnet Plant Identification
Pl@ntnet Plant Identification is a database of existing plants, trees and shrubs with which you can determine which flora you are dealing with. If you see a beautiful plant on vacation, you can use this app to find out which plant it is. This way you can create your garden with plants and trees of your choice. Incidentally, you can view photos per tree and shrub that specifically show the trunk or fruits. This allows you to determine which shrub gives you the most maintenance. If you don't like that, then you know which plants you shouldn't get.
Find the right plants without any problems.
FlowerChecker
There are so many trees and plants on our planet that it may well be that the Pl@ntnet app does not have everything in its database. In that case FlowerChecker can offer the solution. If you come across unknown plants, you can take a photo and send it via the app. You will then receive a message stating which plant you are dealing with. The only drawback is that if you use this, you have to pay a little more than half a euro to get your information. However, the in-app purchases are not necessary, so our advice is that you only use this app if you cannot get information about the plant in any other way.
Do you really not know what plant it is? Then enable FlowerChecker.
Some apps are slightly outdated, so they may not work on the latest mobile devices. The apps have been tested on a Samsung Galaxy S3.
