It is possible that a road is displayed incorrectly in Google Maps. In addition, new roads are constantly being built, and existing roads are sometimes changed. You can adjust those roads in Google Maps, so that it is correct next time. That is how it works.
Previously you had to use Map Maker to report changes for Maps to Google, but nowadays it is possible to do this directly from the Google Maps app. Here we show how this works.
Map Maker
Map Maker was a service from Google that allowed you to submit suggestions for changes to Google Maps. This service has been discontinued since March 2017, and Google is slowly rolling out Map Maker functionality into the Google Maps app itself.
A large part of the content of Google Maps is provided or kept up-to-date by users, which is why it is important for Google and the users of Google Maps that people continue to contribute to the improvement of the service.
Edit roads in Google Maps
To report changes or errors to Google, you must click on the hamburger menu in the app Send feedback to press. Here you can make different types of adjustments for each road by pressing Edit map to push.
You can then change the name of the road, indicate that the road is wrong on the map, indicate whether a road is one-way or not, indicate that a road is closed, and whether the road is public or not. At the bottom you can add additional information, which will help Google better understand what exactly the problem is with the road.
Once you've submitted your feedback, Google will notify you about the processing of your changes. In this way, not only the map improves, but also the navigation function of Google Maps.
The adjustments you make are therefore only a suggestion for Google, and are not immediately applied automatically.
A service related to this is My Maps. This allows you to create a route in advance within Google Maps, which you can then follow when you go cycling or take a road trip by car. You can read more about Google My Maps in this article.
