New on Videoland: best series and films of September

Snowden

In 2013, Edward Snowden takes a huge risk as an NSA employee, leaking thousands of classified documents to a British newspaper. This shows that the American secret service is illegally collecting data from innocent citizens on a massive scale. The service uses advanced software for this. The whistleblower faces years of jail time due to the leak of state data, which is why Snowden decides to say goodbye to the United States early. He first travels to Hong Kong, after which he eventually seeks refuge in Russia. He remains in that country to this day. This true story can be seen on Videoland from September 10.

Kim Kardashian West: The Justice Project

On September 3, Videoland will put the documentary Kim Kardashian West: The Justice Project online. The well-known reality star shows a different side, because Kim Kardashian visits prisoners. The American television personality has been critical of the legal system in her country for some time. She therefore advocates changes in criminal law. Various detainees and their relatives have their say, with the discussed prisoners having had an unfair trial, according to Kim Kardashian and certain lawyers. This mainly concerns minor drug crimes, for which the perpetrators have been sentenced with heavy sentences. This documentary lasts about two hours.

Harrow (season 1 & 2)

Harrow chronicles the life of renowned coroner Daniel Harrow. He does an excellent job and enjoys a good reputation, because he solves countless cases. Unfortunately, the pathologist also has shortcomings. He is less able to deal with lively people. For example, Daniel has absolutely no respect for authority, which means that he ends up in the strangest conflicts. His relationship with his manager is therefore not exactly flawless. Furthermore, the coroner maintains difficult contact with his ex-wife and daughter. Daniel carries a secret from the distant past and he does everything he can to hide it for good. Both seasons can be seen from September 7. In total there are twenty episodes. By the way, a third season of this Australian series is already in the pipeline.

Love Life (season 1)

The new Love Life series will be available on Videoland from September 25. It centers on Darby's ominous love life. In each episode a love relationship is discussed, in which both the very beginning and the final break are reviewed. Will Darby be able to find the one in one of the ten episodes? Interestingly, each episode stands on its own. Darby is played by the famous actress Anna Kendrick. A second season of this romantic series has already been announced.

Mother, I Want To Join The Revue (season 1)

The Dutch drama series Mother, Ik Wil Bij De Revue was shown at the end of 2012 on broadcaster MAX. From September 24, the eight episodes of the first (and only) season will also be on Videoland. The story is set in the 1950s and features several songs by the well-known composer Wim Sonneveld. Bob is supposed to take over his father's coal company, but the young man decides otherwise. He wants to join the stage in the big city and soon manages to get a job as an assistant. Eventually Bob gets the chance to prove himself on the theater stage as a singer and actor, but then his girlfriend suddenly turns out to be pregnant. Will he be able to pursue his dream despite the upcoming fatherhood? Leading roles are played by Egbert Jan Weeber, Huub Stapel, Noortje Herlaar and Jon van Eerd.

Old familiar names

Traditionally, Videoland will again add various film classics this month. In September, enjoy well-known names such as Notting Hill, The Transporter Refueled, Bon Bini Holland 2, Rocky Balboa and Samba. Soap lovers can watch the first season of Gold Coast from September 4.
