So there are programs that can do the migration from a hard drive to an SSD for you. They also immediately make all necessary adjustments to the new SSD, so that it can be used as a Windows system disk. Some SSD manufacturers such as Samsung and Intel provide such software as standard with their SSDs. But if you have an SSD without handy migration software, Paragon Migrate OS to SSD is an option. Hard Disk Manager Suite
Migrate OS to SSD is part of the much more extensive Hard Disk Manager Suite that Paragon also sells separately. The program is a wizard that scans the current system for a Windows installation and then copies it with all the necessary system settings to an SSD or new hard drive in just four steps. All of Windows including all applications will be transferred. Such a migration takes on average half an hour, which means that the time saved compared to reinstalling is many hours. If there are more files on the hard drive than can fit on the SSD, it is possible not to migrate certain files and folders.
The new SSD may be cleaned and then provided with a working Windows installation.
More help from the program would be helpful here. For example, by being able to deselect all photos, videos or music files with one click, but also help to prevent necessary parts of Windows from not being included. If the SSD is larger than the hard drive, Migrate to SSD can add or release the free space to the existing partitions as desired. Migrate OS to SSD works directly under Windows, but it is also possible to create a boot disk on DVD or USB memory stick. This allows Windows to be transferred from a disk with a Master Boot Record (BIOS) to a disk with GPT format (UEFI). This scenario will happen less often.
When selecting files and folders, Migrate OS to SSD leaves all the work to the user.
Migrate OS to SSD only supports one Windows installation. Multiboot installations (Windows, Linux or combination) cannot be migrated with this simple tool, but with the more extensive Paragon Drive Copy, which has a 'Copy HDD' function.
Paragon Migrate OS to SSD transfers Windows and all applications to SSD or new hard drive.
Conclusion
Migrate OS to SSD 4.0 is a great program for the transition from hard disk to SSD. A little more help and protection in excluding files and folders when migrating to a smaller SSD would have earned it the fifth star.
