Review: PaperPort Professional 14

Anyone who works a lot with documents and has difficulty creating a clear structure for themselves can benefit from the PaperPort program. PaperPort is a document management program that contains everything you need to efficiently manage and find your documents. Many useful functions, such as scanning or opening various programs, brought together in one program.

At first glance, PaperPort starts up looking like an enhanced version of Windows Explorer. The folders can be found in a tree structure on the left. On the right, documents are displayed in thumbnail view. At the bottom is a toolbar with various programs such as the various Microsoft Office software, EverNote and Paint. Documents can be dragged here, in order to be opened or sent.

In the left column you can add more folders. In this way a whole list of folders can be compiled. Folders can be easily synchronized with PaperPort Anywhere, so that they can also be read from a smartphone or tablet. At the top is a toolbar that divides PaperPort's various options into tabs.

PaperPort's interface is well-arranged and clearly laid out.

PaperPort has integrated its own program for scanning. Scanning is easy at the push of a button Auto Scan or Advanced Scanning so that all settings can be determined yourself. After scanning, the images can be rotated and the order can be rearranged, after which the document is saved as a PDF file.

After scanning, the order of images can be changed.

Conclusion

For the advanced, organized computer user, PaperPort seems like a superfluous luxury. If you're handy with the Library in Windows 7 and know basic Windows functions like the back of your hand, PaperPort won't add much. For less advanced computer users, PaperPort may be a useful tool. For example, a lot of functions that are already standard in Windows are brought together in a program, so that you do not have to search for them. The question is whether that is worth 129 euros. Fortunately, the program is free to try for fourteen days. PaperPort Anyhwere is a nice cloud service, but actually SkyDrive, Google Drive or Dropbox offer similar features. The scanning software is also nice, but probably adds little to the included scanning software of your scanner.

Documents synchronized with PaperPort Anywhere can be accessed anywhere via the free iPhone, iPad and Android Apps.
