Even if you've been working with Windows 10 for a while, you still don't know everything about the operating system. One of the options is, for example, creating locally with an account. Unfortunately, Windows does not explain how to do this exactly, so you can find everything about creating a local account on Windows 10 in this article.
When you set up a new Windows 10 device, you probably do it right away with a Microsoft account so you can access all the important features and protections. This way you can also easily use the Microsoft Store and cloud storage service OneDrive. But what if you prefer to work in an offline environment as much as possible and also want to keep your files on your own desktop? Then you have to rely on a local account that you can create on Windows 10. Unfortunately, the operating system does not explain how to do that.
We explain step by step how to do this. First you open the Settings and then you go to Accounts. Settings can be opened by pressing All settings on the right in the action center. If you want to create a local account for yourself, in the new Your info screen, click Sign in with a local account instead. Then follow the steps that you see presented on the screen. In this case, we create a local account, in addition to the online account that is already installed.
Local account for someone else
Want to create a local account for someone else? That is also possible. To do this, go under Accounts to Family and other users (in the menu, on the right). Under the Other users heading, click Add someone else to this PC. In the screen that now appears, press I do not have this person's login details. You will then be taken to another window, where you will find the option Add user without a Microsoft account at the bottom.
We are almost there. In the next screen, enter the information you want to leave behind, such as the name of the profile and a password, if necessary (we definitely recommend it). Once you have completed the steps, you are ready to create a local account. Some internet functions do not work properly, but for example Cortana and OneDrive still do the job as you are used to.
