SyncBackFree - Fully Automatic Backup & Sync

Backing up data is a tedious job, but it is necessary if you want to avoid data loss. However, SyncBackFree's set-and-forget approach makes the whole procedure a painless process. Once everything is configured and planned, you hardly have to worry about it.

SyncBackFree, which is now ready for version 7, is the slimmed-down edition of two paid versions. The detailed comparison is telling: we count no fewer than seventy functions that are not in the free version, but fortunately there are still more than thirty for which you can turn to SyncBackFree.

Not

What SyncBackFree doesn't already offer is support for cloud storage services, versioning (where you can determine how many older file versions are kept in the backup), backups of open files, incremental and differential backups, scripting and automatic reconnection after the connection to an ftp server or NAS has been lost. Admittedly, all useful functions, but despite this lack, SyncBackFree still remains an interesting program.

Each task can be carefully planned.

Well

As the name suggests, SyncBackFree functions both as a classic backup program and as a synchronization tool. With the latter option it is therefore the intention to align two folders neatly with each other. Everything starts with creating a profile, in which you record the desired actions and options. After you have made clear whether it is a Backup or Synchronization, a window opens in which you can set source and destination location as well as the desired timing.

Maybe this is enough for you, but the option is enough Advanced click to bring up many more options. Here you can control conflict management (what if the target file already exists, for example), set whether you want to compress the backups and possibly also encrypt, set exclusion or including filters, indicate which programs you want to see run before or after the profile , set whether you want to receive an e-mail notification automatically afterwards, and so on.

In short, SyncBackFree may lack a few useful features, but there are still plenty of options left to serve the demanding home user. Thanks to the smart split between Simple and Advanced, novice users can also get started with this program right away.

The 'extended' mode contains numerous parameters and options.
